Nailympia Div 4 champion 2021 launches online learning option

Champion nail tech and artist, Olena Oezman has launched an online nail academy. Utilising her time efficiently during the pandemic, Olena focused on creating a portal of nail education, in order to further her reach as an international nail tutor and trainer.

And the timing is excellent, since taking part in the first edition of Nailympia Online, Olena was presented at its awards ceremony on 15 March 2021 1x gold, 2 x silver and 1 x bronze medals as well as they Division 4 VIP 5-Shape Challenge trophy.

Acting as mentor and teacher to multi-award winning UK medalist and nail artist, Mino Vo, Olena is cited as a great beacon of knowledge and inspiration. Talking after his success winning three of the eight Nailympia Online trophies, Mino says, “When competing, it’s not just about who is the best in structure or the best in art. You need to read the rules, this is your best friend. For you to be successful there are many points to consider and a big area you need to focus on the cleanliness of your work, your surface and cuticles.” Mino then goes on to share his success comes a direct result of what he learned on Olena’s course. “I took the Olena Özman combined manicure online class and can honestly say, I can now make clean cuticles confidently. This course covers every single thing you can imagine. Every skin type, every tool. And the quality I can promise you is the best.”

Showcasing an image of  his nail work, Mino reveals, “This picture has not had a single edit or any photoshop work done, I didn’t even change any light settings. It is purely a manicure born from skills learned on Olena’s class.”
Currently there is a code on offer if signing up for Olena’s classes – use the word – MINO for an extra 10% off.
After 14 years working as a nail professional Olena decided it was time to pass on her experience and nail knowledge. Creating a website for nail education, Olena promises structured learning with videos that will not only dramatically elevate your nail skills, abut also provide a clear understanding, afford a new freedom, raise self-confidence, the respect you are shown and ultimately widen your choices in the field of nails.
Olena cites her success is down to, “My secret to success is hard work, continuous learning, my passion for nails and always doing the best I can.” Olena advocates pushing oneself and coming our of your comfort zone to take on the challenges that appear – reflecting that only by doing this can one step up their game. And, by golly, the results speak for themselves since not only is Olena successfully reaping the rewards through winning medals and trophies, but her students are also taking centre stage.

Nailympia Online presents line-up of 36 judges

Nailympia Online closes for registration on Saturday 27 February and will be open for another 24 hours to take in submissions. It will finally close its portal at midnight on Sunday 28 February.

This is when the 36-strong judging team will be sent links into their judging portals, which have been allocated to them, but not yet revealed.  “It’s getting very exciting as we get closer to the deadline,” enthuses Alex Fox, Nailympia organiser. “We have upgraded the Nailympia website and turned it into a competition portal where competitors from all over the world can register and upload their entries. This in turn, sends the entry to its respective category, where a link will be created and sent out to the judges ( from 1st March), who will then access their criteria, the entries and score straight into the system.”

With more than 30 countries represented and over 170 competitors, this competition is hotting up as it moves through its last week.

A live awards will be held at 7pm GMT Monday 15 March hosted on the official Nailympia Facebook page with Scratch’s Alex Fox and Helena Biggs, managing editor of Scratch magazine.

New fact-based expert online nail education launches

Introducing Nail Knowledge

After nearly two years in the planning, an idea voiced by Kevin Nicholls from Roo Beauty to Marian Newman has resulted in Nail Knowledge; fact-based online learning with a difference. Nail Knowledge provides the information and understanding essential for the nail professional. It’s presented via three masterclasses; The Nail Unit, Product Chemistry and Health & Safety, each offering five to six separate lessons.

“It’s only taken 2 years!” enthuses Marian Newman BEM. “This is what I’ve been promising you. I am so proud to show you a taste of the project that myself and Kevin Nichols have been working on all this time.”

So, ‘what’s the deal with this new online learning?’ is the burning question. Well, the big difference is that it’s presented in a totally unique way. Every individual learns in different ways. Some like reading, some listening, some watching and some ‘experiencing’. Theory is almost always taught using 2D images and diagrams while Nail Knowledge animates all of this teaching. Marian comments, “You can see the nail growing from the nail matrix; you can watch polymerisation happening; see the blood and antibodies rush to fight an allergen!

“Nail Knowledge hits every learning style with beautiful graphics and animations. The written word and the spoken word come together with ‘knowledge points’ in each lesson and ‘knowledge checks’ after each lesson. It culminates in the final exam which, when passed, results in the Nail Knowledge Essential Nail Professional diploma.”

Marian Newman is the author and has collaborated with two other experts; Vitaly Solomonoff (a dermatologist and cosmetic chemist), who edited masterclass one: The Nail Unit and Doug Schoon (world-renowned nail expert and scientist), who edited masterclass two: Product Chemistry.
