Industry figures you admire: There are so many innovative & creative professionals that pour their everything into their artistry that it would be too many to name. I am continuously moved & inspired by their masterpieces as they push me to think outside the box & challenge my own limits.
Career biography: Currently William is a LeChat educator, creative director of nail artistry for Netflix movies & series, lead nail artist & designer for KISS & freelances for a host of celebrities & media personalities including: Bad Bunny, Bella & Gigi Hadid, Gabriel Union, Jennifer Hudson, Tyrese Gibson, ASAP Rocky, Paris Hilton, sisters Venus & Serena Williams, Janelle Monae, Jordan Fisher, Lil Kim, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Laverne Cox, Georgina Rodriguez, Diane Guerrero, Common & the list goes on & on. William's designs have also been seen parading the red carpets at the Oscars, SAG Awards, Grammys, Latin Grammys & a number of runways at New York Fashion Week including Ralph Lauren & Calvin Klein. Mr. Luis’ designs have also graced the covers of Rolling Stone Magazine, Elle & many more. William AKA Mr Luis is very proud & honoured to be doing what he loves.
Personal biography: William Camargo more widely known as Mr. Luis is a licensed nail technician & artist of Colombian heritage. Mr. Luis has been an expert at his craft from as early as 10 years old & went on to pursue his Masters in Fine Arts from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. His love for the artistry was inspired & nurtured by his father, Luis Camargo who owned & operated a full service beauty salon. That love & passion grew immensely when he inherited his father’s business, which has been operating in New Jersey for over 50 years.
Why you believe in nail competitions?: Nail competitions are a great way for nail artists at any level of experience to really put themselves out there & challenge their own limits. They are the ideal platform to put your creativity & passion on display.
Advice to competitors: It’s ok to be guided by a well thought out vision, but it’s also okay to let the art be art & to allow yourself to be led to wherever it’s taking you.
