Career biography: In 2001 I started as a nail technician & opened my first salon. In 2003 I looked around to start distributing & training & the choice fell on NSI, a choice that I still think was wise. I also got involved in nail industry associations to form a good platform for all nail technicians around Sweden to create a status for the profession. In 2007, I organised the first Nordic Nail Open, which has grown to become a well-known & annual competition. In 2018 I started to work on creating my own nail brand – Nail Systems of Sweden, which was launched the following year. That part of the business has now been sold & my focus is on competitions & expos. In 2019, I was involved in starting the beauty fair CosmoNord, to be a platform for all beauty in Sweden & the Nordic region. It is now an annual expo run by my me & my husband.
Personal biography: Traveling the world & cooking with my husband are two passions in my life. We have travelled to many exotic places - we have hiked in jungles, bathed in the Ganges, climbed Machu Picchu & so much more. From different corners of the world, we have brought recipes home to enjoy. We like to gather our family, in all generations & spend wonderful time together. We gather around the outdoor kitchen cooking together or just relax with some fun garden games – or both!
Why you believe in nail competitions?: Competitions are a place to grow & develop your skills. It is a place to meet colleagues & friends. It is an arena that brings the whole world together. It is an arena to build a network & to see & learn from others. It is not only your skills that you develop, but also you as a person.
Advice to competitors: Take one step at a time. Enter your first competition & just be encouraged. After this first step begin to see, to learn with a competitor’s eye & start to practice & practice some more. Then you see your skills will grow & you will start to see all details – one step at a time. Don’t forget to focus & also to enjoy! Read the rules carefully & makes sure to understand all angles/criteria & ask if you do not understand. Get feedback from the judges after the competition.
