Favourite nail brands: Over the years, I’ve worked with many fantastic brands like NSI, Crystal Nails & Halo, which were once my go-to choices. However, I’ve now created my own brand, & it has quickly become my favourite. It’s designed to meet the high standards I’ve always looked for, combining quality & performance that I truly believe in.
Industry figures you admire: In the nail industry, there are so many talented individuals I admire for their creativity, innovation & dedication. People like Barbara Ujvari, Hazel Dixon, Kirsty Meakin, Amanda Hawtree-Taff, Alex Fox, Helena Biggs, Jacqueline O’Sullivan. And I can’t leave out my amazing NBE Team that I admire. Each one of them brings something unique - whether it’s pushing design boundaries, developing techniques or inspiring the next generation of nail technicians. There are countless others who also deserve recognition, as the industry is filled with passionate, skilled professionals who continue to inspire & motivate me every day.
Career biography: I am the founder & director of Nail & Beauty Excellence Ltd. I have a passion for the nail industry & always strive for perfection. I am a national & international multi award-winning nail technician too. I have won awards in multiple areas including, Scratch Stars, extreme shapes, business card, magazine nails, pop art, poster nails, Nail Tech of the Year, industry trainer, Health & Beauty awards, new business, World Skills, photographic entries and masters in salon nails & to top it of I've even taken a Grand Prix & a Mega Grand Prix awards. I just love to share my knowledge, by teaching others & helping them improve their skills & reach their own potential. I'm a great believer that if you work hard enough, you can achieve anything you want. You just need passion, dedication & a great mentor!
Personal biography: Nails are my true passion & they’re on my mind most of the time. From creating new designs to perfecting techniques, I’m constantly inspired by the artistry & creativity in this field. It’s what drives me daily, fuelling my desire to keep learning & growing. When I’m not focused on nails, I’m cherishing precious moments with my beautiful daughter, but my love for nails is always there, pushing me to innovate & do what I love.
Why you believe in nail competitions?: Competitions are great for nail technicians because they push you to refine your skills, stay updated on trends & experiment with new techniques. They provide a platform for receiving constructive feedback from experts, allowing you to identify areas for improvement. Competing against others motivates you to raise your standards, leading to faster growth & enhanced creativity. Plus, competitions help you build a reputation & network with industry professionals, which can open doors for career opportunities & personal development.
Advice to competitors: For new competitors, my advice is to carefully check the competition rules & ensure you understand them fully - if anything is unclear, don’t hesitate to ask questions. Go over everything you need to bring, ensuring your products are labelled & tools are clean. Being organised helps you stay focused. Most importantly, try to relax & enjoy the experience. Remember, your biggest competition is yourself, so focus on doing your best & growing from the process. Enjoy your journey.
