Why you believe in nail competitions?: Nail competitions are a form of self reflection & examination of one's skills. Everyone has different standards to beauty or perfection. Competition helps to establish the standard of our nails against others in the industry based on a set of criteria that is recognised by industry's experts around the world. In the process, it opens our eyes to many beautiful works & helps to expand our vision in order to improve our craft. Nail competitions also open doors for competitors to learn from the best & also to develop your career & network outside of the nail salon.
Advice to competitors: Read the rules. * Read the scoresheets for judging criteria. * Look at previous works (Nailympia always posts past winner's works). * Always practice with time management & if possible compete with the same model that you practice with. * Attend a competition class especially if you're a beginner. * Get a mentor. * Compete with a team or a friend if possible, the moral support within a team helps. * Just do it, compete against yourself first, before others. * Aim for progress, not perfection. * The success will come with consistency.
