Career biography: I've been in the beauty industry since 1982 & working as a nail professional since 1992. I've been an international educator for different brands in the nail Industry since 1995, & now I'm a salon-school-owner in the Netherlands & I distribute Artistic Nail Design products in the Benelux alongside some countries in Europe . I'm still open for new ‘adventures & opportunities’, & will never stop looking for something special in this industry. I've judged many competitions in Europe, the USA and Russia, at different levels and assignments. I have worked, and am still working, with wonderful people in the industry & I will keep doing this as long as it is possible!!
Personal biography: I really adore music, without this my life is not complete. Cooking together with my partner. Crazy in love with my two little dachsunds, they know how to bring love & joy into my life. Formula 1 with our MAX! Having a good sharing dinner with friends, taking the time to talk, drink & have amazing relaxing times. I still like to look into new opportunities & developments as well as creating new concepts, which I hope to implement.
Why you believe in nail competitions?: It will give participants from so many different backgrounds the opportunity to showcase their work to the world. If it is just technical or art or sometimes both, clear opinions & coaching is in their reach. It will show them on which level they are & in which parts they can still develop.
Advice to competitors: Don't be afraid to start competing. I hear this a lot, especially from the new ones. You will see that there are comps, which are difficult & ones which are easier to start with. But definitely do a live comp to feel the amazing vibe from the comp floor. This is so different from the online comps. Once you have done one or two live ones, you can easily step up the next time. Make sure you understand the rules & regulations because in different competitions from different organisers, rules can be different. Practice in the things you are good at & make sure you know what is judged on the score sheets. Sometimes you will see that parts of the scoring can give you high points, which could bring up your average points. Your model is also a big help in a competition, they can make your life easier.
