Career biography: In 1994 Alisha Rimando started her journey in the nail industry working in a salon & soon became an educator. She immediately fell in love with teaching & found herself traveling the world as an educator, competitor & hand model for World Champion, Tom Holcomb. Working alongside him, she studied his techniques & after 10 years she achieved her World Championship title in 2005 in the art of pink & white sculptured nails. In 2008 Alisha moved to New York & took another leap in her career by contributing to the 6th edition of Milady Nail Technology. Since 2008 Alisha has authored and/or contributed to more than 10 textbooks & supplements for Cengage Learning including Standard Cosmetology & continues this honour year after year. Being so close to NYC Alisha became a session artist for magazines, designers at NY Fashion Week & was even featured in Jennifer Hudson’s Spotlight video. She also spent 3 years as Training Director at Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas.
Personal biography: When not working with her team at GlossaryLive, or travelling the globe to meet up with nail friends at trade shows & competitions, Alisha spends every moment possible with her children Aspen & Olive & her future husband Cory. She loves cooking & feeding her family & friends. She enjoys hosting holidays at her home, travelling, trying new food, shopping & writing.
Why you believe in nail competitions?: Competing doesn’t confirm your skills, it improves them. It continues to push you to become your best. It shows you your faults & flaws & keeps you humble. It teaches you to never stop learning, to never stop improving. During the process you are surrounded by your peers, by those that have the same passion & fears you do, from these people you will learn, you grow & you find your family.
Advice to competitors: Breathe, eat, sleep. Practice, practice, practice. Believe. No matter what, keep going. Oh & FINISH!
